Parents of our IS 125 students have been invited to enroll in a Saturday afternoon class for basic computer literacy. Interested parents signed up and classes began on February 27, 1999. From 12:30PM-3:30PM every Saturday the library is open and available for parents that would like to learn basic computer skills, improve their already existing skills or just come in and browse the Web.
Our first class was a success and parents who stated they "Only know how to turn on the computer" left the class with a general knowledge of ClarisWorks and were even able to produce their own documents.
Future classes will explore many of the different uses of a computer. Many of the parents who expressed frustration at the fact that their kids know so much more about computers than they do are comforted to know that after a few short sessions they will be on their way to mastering the skills necessary to "keep up with their kids"!!
