AIM -WHAT IS TEMPO ?

Objective
To recognize and feel a steady beat in terms of different temos (speed)
Students will be able to create original compositions using a variety of tempos and meters

Procedures
1. Have students listen to different styles of music using different tempos.
2. Discuss what tempo (speed of the beat) means and how it enhances the way a selection can be interpreted.
3. Have students clap to the music using various tempos.
4. Have students compose simple rhythmic lines and play them using different tempos
5. Students will be introduced to terms describing different types of tempos for example (adagio,vivace,andante,presto etc.)

Assessment
1. Review student progress.
2. Students can perform their original works to the class( solo or groups)
3. Record terms in journals or music books.
