Juan Bobo is a folk character still very much alive in the oral tradition of Puerto Ricans. District 8 will use Juan Bobo as a catalyst to activate and extend the imaginations of our teachers, students, and the families of our community. The project will involve teachers, students and the community in reading, listening to, telling, collecting, recording, researching, writing, editing, and publishing anthologies of Juan Bobo stories. Texts of these collections will be produced by participating schools and the District Office in February. Then, in the Spring, students will use these traditional Juan Bobo stories to create original art, dance, drama, music and literature.
